The Vestal PTA, in accordance with the Oregon PTA and the Portland Public School District, prohibits discrimination and harassment on any basis protected by law, including but not limited to, an individual’s perceived or actual race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, national or ethnic origin, marital status, age, disability, pregnancy, familial status, economic status, veteran’s status, or because of the perceived or actual inclusion in any of the above classes by any other persons with whom the individual associates.

The Vestal PTA prohibits discrimination and harassment in all of its events, including but not limited to: students, parents, school staff, community members, and local businesses participating, volunteering, or sponsoring a Vestal PTA event; attending a public meeting, being on a Vestal PTA committee, or running for a board position.

The Vestal PTA will attempt to make reasonable accommodations to anyone who requires them for disability, medical, or religious reasons. If you require accommodation please contact the Vestal PTA prior to the event in question.

Those who feel they have been discriminated against are encouraged to immediately bring the issue to a Vestal PTA board member or email the Vestal PTA leadership directly at vestalelementarypta@gmail.com. Complaints may be made anonymously, however corroborating evidence may be required. If a community member is concerned that the Vestal PTA is not properly handling a given complaint, they may escalate the matter to the Oregon PTA directly (see contact info at https://oregonpta.org).

Retaliation or harassment against any person who in good faith reports, is thought to have reported, or otherwise participates in an investigation is strictly prohibited, regardless of whether a complaint is substantiated. Initiation of a complaint by an individual in good-faith, regardless of the outcome, will not adversely affect that individual’s participation in future Vestal PTA sponsored events, meetings, or eligibility for a board position.

Those found to have participated in discrimination or harassment, or initiated knowingly false complaints in bad-faith, may be excluded from future Vestal PTA events, have their partnership with the Vestal PTA revoked, or their position on the board terminated.
